Animal ID: A4572712MERLIN (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Temperament

Mystery surrounds this guy, and I've named him MERLIN, since his name is one of those mysteries. MERLIN (A4572712) went into the high-intake, high-kill Baldwin Park Shelter (L.A., CA. 626-430-2378) as an Owner Surrender back on May 6. He is listed as being a 10-year old fawn Cocker Spaniel. These things alone make an urgent situation, but on top of that, he's also in quarantine for biting! Apparently, he bit the owner's brother while he was putting him into the truck. The one helpful note is that it does say that the bite was provoked. Here's where it gets weird: it says he is available on 10/17/13 and due out on 10/18/13. Now, this is ... (Read More)probably a typo...even the person I talked to said this. However, this leaves this poor guy in limbo, because he's not really coming up as 'adoptable,' nor as 'lost' (since he was owner-surrendered). And since he's in quarantine, it's hard to even see him at the shelter. I found him by accident, and was able to get a few pics through the extra close and extra thick bars of his cage (and from the outside because the inside section is closed to the public). So, he has no medical notes, and no behavioral notes while at the shelter. He was really nice to me (through the cage) when I met him. He actually seems like a pretty happy guy. He's a big Cocker, probably about 40 pounds....but in good shape. I will continue trying to find out what the deal is as far as availability...but I recommend that a rescue find out too. My concern is that, at some point, they will figure out the error, and then not give him much time because he would have already been there quite a while! Please network MERLIN for foster/ rescue/ pledges/ adoption! (Less)

Animal ID: A4573777Daisy (female)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Young Adult

Lancaster, CA - A4573777, 'Daisy' is a 2y/o female Cocker SPaniel who was dumped by her owners because their home went into foreclosure. The pup on the right (A4573799 has a CTA and several IP's). Please call the shelter at 661.940.4191 if you are interested in adopting any of the dogs I post. This shelter is a publicly funded County shelter with a high rate of 'strays' and 'owner turn ins' and therefore considered 'high kill'. if you are interested in any dogs I have listed, I urge you to immediately get in touch with the shelter for their adoption procedure. I have seen it too many times where dog's have lost their lives because someone ... (Read More)waited just ONE day too long... When you are networking, tagging, etc. please know that rescue 'Pages' do not get notifications when you 'line-tag' them (highlighting the page's name in a 'comment'). If you want a page to see a dog in need, you must post the link to the dog's thread (highlight/copy what is in your browser) ONTO their actual page or 'tag' them in the actual photo! Only 'people' (non-pages) you line-tag will get notified, providing they have this feature not turned 'OFF'. Adoption fees at this shelter are $120 or less. There is a $20 license fee which only applies if you are a local resident. All fees include vaccines, micro chip and spay/neuter. Unaltered dogs are released after their spay/neuter, unless they get a waiver due to age or health. The Lancaster, CA shelter is located at 5210 W. He is a non-neutered male Cocker Spaniel, and he was Owner-surrendered to the high-intake (therefore high-kill) Downey shelter (L.A., CA. 562-658-2085) on May 11. Animal ID: A4566448BOONE (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

BOONE (aka Wall-E, A4566448), as I've named him, has an injury to his hind leg and is still at the vet, however, I've been told that he IS available. Unfortunately, they were unable to tell me any specifics about his injury, except that he went into the shelter as a stray already injured. BOONE is listed as a 2-year old male, gold Dachshund mix (I'm not even going to venture a guess as to his breed, but he sure is cute!). He has no behavioral or other medical notes. While he is still at the vet hospital, he is impounded (I don't like that word) at the Baldwin Park Shelter (L.A., CA. 626-430-2378). Please network him for foster/ rescue/ ... (Read More)pledges/ adopter! Since he is not at the shelter, the public isn't seeing him unless they look online, and they are unlikely to adopt outright due to his injury. (Less)

Health: Neutered

COCO (A4568982) was surrendered by his owner to the high-intake Downey Shelter (L.A., CA. 562-658-2085) on April 26...the only note as to why is 'owner problems.' He is listed as a 7-year old neutered male, tan and black Cocker Spaniel mix. He looks like he needs a grooming, but I love his coloring! He has no behavioral notes, but he had a mole or mass that was removed, and the area is now healing very well. Please help COCO by networking for foster/ rescue/ pledges/ adoption!

She's a nice girl, no behavioral notes, but she does have a medical note: she has mammary tumors. Rescue Me ID: 13-05-03-00030Bailey (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Obese, Aggressive

Bailey is 6 years old. He was raised with a cat and two other dogs since he was a puppy. He is the baby of our bunch. Since he was a puppy, he was never fond of his feet being touched. However he did fine whenever I bathed and blow dried his fur. He may nip at other dogs or kids so I think he would thrive most as the only pet in a home with adults. No small children. He is a great dog. Loyal and lovable. I hate to give him up but its for the best. He needs a home where he will be loved there as much as he is here. Thank you.

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Kimba was found at two weeks of age. He has been bottle fed and is looking for a forever home. He will be ready to go in a few weeks. We aren't sure what breed he is, since he was an orphan. He appears to be a smaller type breed, but he is only 6-7 weeks old. He is too young to neuter, but that is part of the contract with us.

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Adult

This poor fella came to us as a stray. He was really matted so we took him to the groomer and had him shaved. The worse part is he has a condition called Dry-eye. He needs treatment for this which we have tried to do but he becomes extremely aggressive and tries to bite. We are unable to apply the eye med's without getting bit. At this point he is not a good candidate for adoption. But if someone with a lot of patience and knowledge of a dog with this type of behavior is willing to take him on we would be ever so happy.

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered

WILL (A1382623) and AUGUST (A1382624) were found and taken in to the North Central shelter (L.A., CA. 213-485-5767) together, as strays on April 5. When I called the shelter for info about a week ago, they were looking for a possible owner (meaning they had either found microchips or tags) and were set to be available on April 17. Also, the person who found them and took them in had first rights on them (i.e. they would adopt them if the owner wasn't found). Well, that should have happened two days ago and they are both still at the shelter...I'm on hold (25 minutees so far) with the shelter as I write this to get more info, and I tried ... (Read More)calling yesterday for more info, but eventually had to hang up and do other things...and that is the situation I'm in right now...I have to go in about 5 minutes! Anyway, here's the info I DO have: They are both unaltered male Cocker Spaniels, listed as 2 years old. Will is the black one, and he's about 20 pounds. August is the buff one, and he's about 22 pounds. If anyone can gt a hold of the shelter for more info, please post on here. Otherwise, whenever I am able to get more info, I will update. He went into the shelter with crusty skin...he has tested positive for demodex. This is the non-contagious form of mange, which is much more common in puppies.
