Rescue Me ID: 14-07-23-00220Wilson (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Wilson is a sweet dog with all men, women, and children. He currently lives with a cat but other dogs do make him anxious until he gets used to them. Wilson does have anxiety issues. He really needs to be around people and when that's not possible, he really needs to be crated. We give him a huge fenced-in backyard to run and play in but if people are not with him, he will bark, pace, and try to dig his way out. We have tried some anti-anxiety meds in the past but they don't seem to work very well. He just needs lots of attention. Since we've had children, Wilson hasn't gotten the attention he needs. We've done our best, but his ... (Read More)anxiety is such that he needs to be around us (people) continuously. We haven't been able to give him that attention. Additionally, our job locations will be changing after Labor Day causing us to be gone from our home from 7:00am to 6:30pm or later at times. Wilson needs to go out to the bathroom at least 2-3 times during a day and leaving him in a crate all day isn't fair to him. We really believe he would be better off with someone who is home a lot and can give him the attention he needs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-04-25-00201Simba (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Meet Simba! This handsome chow mix is about a year and a half old and still full of puppy energy. He was found abandoned in midtown Savannah, and after unsuccessfully seeking an owner, I tried introducing him to my two dogs and cat. Unfortunately, while he gets along great with my younger dog, my older, dominant dog starts fights with him if I leave them unaccompanied for even a few minutes. Simba is incredibly friendly and wants nothing more than to play with the dogs and cat in my home, so I believe that he would do well in a household with either, as long as the animals take to his energy and playful nature. Simba has been to the vet to ... (Read More)get up-to-date on his vaccines (rabies, DHPP, bordatella) and has received round and hookworm dewormer; however, it was during vaccinations that I found out that he is heartworm positive. Unfortunately, I have been out of town on and off and unable to commit to keeping him inactive for 30 days while the heartworm medicine kills off the heartworms, and I will not be able to do so for a few months. If you are interested in adopting Simba, I ask that you start him on heartworm treatment at your earliest convenience. I had him neutered approximately a month ago, at which time, we ran several blood tests to make sure his heart was healthy enough to withstand the surgery; it was, so I don't believe he has had heartworm for too long. Simba loves people and loves attention. He does well with adults and children, although he will bark if someone unfamiliar knocks at the door or approaches the house. Although he is friendly with small children, he does need to be watched because he jumps when he plays and could probably topple a very small child! He has some separation anxiety with me, but I believe a lot of this comes from being isolated in a room away from my other pets. He is housebroken, and he will whimper at the door when he needs to go to the bathroom. The only accidents he has had is when I have ignored his signals. As a young dog, he will chew if he's bored (mostly paper) so he requires toys and attention to wear him out. Simba is such a sweet dog and deserves a home with someone who loves him very much. The adoption fee is mostly to ensure that he goes to a good home because after spending 2 and a half months with him, I am quite attached to him! He will come with his food and water dish, collar, leash and some toys. If you are looking for a friendly, high energy dog who will love you endlessly, please contact me about adopting Simba! (Less)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Dash is a sweet young boy. He is very playful and loves to be around of people. He is great with cats and other dogs. Only problem with him is that he can jump a fence. The foster home he is in doesn't have a fence tall enough in the yard and he can clear 4 ft. easy... He has lots of energy and loves to play, run and goof around. Great addition to a family!!!
