Rescue Me ID: 16-09-06-00131Happy (female)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Abused/Neglected

Our alcoholic neighbors put this dog outside in a crate to bark and carry on for hours one night over Labor Day weekend. She barked non stop in the crate so they eventually opened the crate door leaving her out to roam with no tags or collar of any sort. They denied up and down it was their dog when the police finally came. We live very close to the water and she almost fell in (there is no way for a dog to get out of this canal, she would have drown had she fallen) She is super cute and happy, very playful. We have three dogs and she is loving all of them even though one is not loving her so much. I would love to keep her but my ... (Read More)husband would leave me, I was put on notice after bringing home doggie #3 home. This little girl has a hilarious head of hair. She is cuddly and seems to be potty trained. She is an escape artist and figured out all the places she could slip through our fence in just seconds. She will need a well fenced yard. I don't have kids but I would be shocked if she didn't love them as happy and outgoing and curious as she is and I would not be surprised to learn she is under 2 years old. She has not stopped checking our dogs out and trying to get them play. Only at night when I put her in her crate does she settle so she may do best with a house with kids and other dogs. Oh, she seems very attentive to squirrels, if you would like a squirrel hunter this could be your girl. I would like to see her leave the county so that this couple, if they sober up, don't find a way to get her back. They are a train wreck and it is not fair to this little dog. I am also happy to make a further than usual trip to the right owners. I will be fussy and look for referrals, vet check, etc... (Less)
