Animal ID: 17505 FosterScamper (female)
Scamper #17505 - Scamper had a recent trip to the vet and now has a clean bill of health. She is spayed, UTD on shots, and heartworm negative. Scamper weighs about 24 pounds but could stand to put on a couple more and was estimated by the vet to be about 4 years old. Scamper is a smooth coat cocker spaniel mix (possibly beagle?) and has the bob tail to boot. She knows how to sit and is very food-motivated. Scamper appears to be house broken and her foster mom keeps her in the kitchen while she is gone at work or out running errands. Scamper has two canine foster siblings and two feline foster sisters and gets along well with all of them. She is still learning how to play with the bigger dogs and gets scared from time to time when they chase her, but it's just a learning curve. Scamper doesn't bother the cats at all even when they are in close proximity. Sadly, some man probably scared Scamper early on in life and she hasn't forgotten it because she seems to have some fear of men. Foster mom and her friends are working on that with lots of patience and treats - lots of treats! In addition to her love of treats, Scamper loves to go for a walk! We have been using a front hook harness with her and she does great with that. If you are looking for a little sweetheart who would love to be by your side, please consider meeting Scamper today. I have two cocker spaniel/terrier mix dogs that are looking for good homes. They are almost 2 years old (born 7/3/2015) and are sisters. We have had them for about a year but are not home enough to give them the attention they deserve. They are great dogs and have been wonderful family pets thus far. Not dog or food aggressive, completely potty and crate trained, and will sit for a treat :) The blonde one is June, the spotted one is Ellie. They are current with vaccinations and have no known health issues. Their crates, bowls, and food is available to go with them. Good homes only, please.

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-16-00113Josefina (female)
Josefina's mom and siblings have been adopted, but she is still waiting for her forever home!! Josefina LOVES playing outside. She would stay outside all day if we let her. She's certainly the outdoorsy type! When inside, she chases our 3 dogs around to play. She wants to be wherever they are. She loves having playmates and is confident enough to initiate a game of 'wag, your it!' any chance she gets! Consequently, we believe she would do best in a home with another young dog because she shows so much interest in our dogs. We have begun potty training and crate training. She sleeps in her crate at night and during the day, if we aren't home. She does cry at first, but she is learning that it is her safe place to relax when we cannot supervise her. Josefina has a lot of love and joy to bring to her new family, but she will need time and patience as she is still a young puppy in training and is still learning all the basics! Josefina will be making her first appearance at the adoption center on July 15! Stop by to meet her! She will certainly steal your heart with her sweet puppy-dog eyes! Josefina is a Female Spaniel Mix that we estimate to be born around 5/6/2017. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-14-00077Barkley (male)
Barkley was surrendered to us by his owners because he has some unpredictable behaviors and they felt he needed a home without small children. Barkley has good days 90% of the time. We think he has a disorder that causes him to have bad days here and there. On these days he needs only to be left alone and be allowed to have his own space. On his good days he is a great dog though. He needs a family that accepts him for his good and bad days. A place with no small children would be best as it would be hard for them to give him space on his off days. Please give this sweet boy a chance!

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00423Truffles (female)
Posted 9/15/15, and pictures updated 5/4/16. While working on a rescue project, Truffles and her sister Capri were found at a dumpster at Lake Palestine on 9/3/15 in route to our rescue location. Both came running up, are somewhat good on a leash, but need more practice, are very sweet, and love to be pet. They are crate trained, love to play with the other dogs, and they are social with people, so they did have an owner. We had them at an adoption event in September 2015, and they let a lot of children pet them. We were thinking possible Beagle mix for the breed at first until the Cocker Spaniel mix was suggested. There was also the suggestion of Rottweiler in looking at Capri. Both girls have stub tails and underbites. She was estimated to have been born around April 2015, and weighted 28.2 on 9/11/15; 52.8 on 5/29/16. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-22-00336Mickey (male)
Hi, my name is Mickey! I am a happy, playful, funny puppy who can't wait to find my forever home! Oh, and I'm also deaf! But don't worry, that doesn't slow me down one bit! I had a home once and a family I loved very much! They adopted me when I was just a little baby. But they soon figured out that I couldn't hear and they took me to the city pound to be euthanized. I was so scared and confused. Why did they stop loving me just cuz my ears don't work? But Red Collar Rescue knew I was an amazing dog - deaf or not! Off I went to the vet for all my shots, neutering and a microchip. I am a lovebug - never met a lap I didn't like but mostly I like to play, run, and play some more! I am great with dogs my own size and I'm super smart. I even know some hand signals. I am currently living with a foster, and working with a trainer to learn even more! Email firstname.lastname@example.org to adopt me! Age: 3 yrs Weight: 40 lbs Dogs? ok Cats? no Kids? ok Needs Foster? no UPDATE from Mickey's foster family: Mickey loves to play. He does very well in the car. He would do well with a canine playmate or two. Our neighbors, have a small child. Mickey did well when we introduced them. Mickey sometime's barks when he first meets people. That's just him saying hello. Mickey cannot hear so he doesn't realize how scary he can sound. Once he meets you, he's all about hugs and kisses. He is very motivated by pleasing us. He loves and needs to be told he's a good boy. Mickey is starting his AKC Canine Good Citizen class and will be done in a few weeks. He's goofy and will accept that he is not the alpha in a pack. He will try to be second though. He loves being close to his people. He sleeps with us and snuggles with us at night. He likes chew toys and socks, especially Himalayan dog chews. Mickey will thrive in a home that can give him lots of attention, TLC and will be patient while they adjust to each other. In many ways, he is still a puppy. He is unique and will be worth the love and care because Mickey possesses an infinite capacity to love. (Less)

Cocker Spaniel Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The American Cocker Spaniel is a sociable, sunny, affectionate breed. Cocker Spaniels are good gun dogs but are especially suited to be family pets. Cockers need human companionship, affection, and attention. Most Cocker Spaniels are wonderful around children. Cockers are usually easy to train but can be difficult to housebreak. Cockers are energetic and need lots of exercise, but can adapt well to an apartment or a home with a small yard.
