Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00468Goldie (female)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected

This sweet female cocker mix is going to be smaller than a cocker. She was a little overwhelmed in the dog shelter kennel but when we took her out to take her picture she warmed right up to us. We are a small newly organized group to help our small town shelter find homes for dogs outside of our community. The shelter only has 7 cages and when it is full the dogs are at risk to be euthanized. It is not a no kill shelter. If we find a potential home we will take the dog out and foster it and help arrange transport to your home. This is a very sweet dog and will make some one a wonderful pet. I will email or text more pictures if you will ... (Read More)contact me at 972-814-0213 or Happi74111@hotmail.com Joana (Less)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Buddy is a 9 year old cocker spaniel mix. The little guy has had it rough. When he came to us he had heartworms but has been treated and is as good as new. He loves belly rubs (as you can see in his picture!) and loves being a lap dog. He would like a family to call his own for the rest of his years. He is very good natured -- don't let his age fool you!

Animal ID: 15-0149Ruffles (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

RUFFLES enjoys treats, squeaky toys, fetch, playing in water, slow walks and car rides. He is kennel- and house-trained. Once he gets to know you, he is a loving dog and really, REALLY likes belly rubs and side scratches. He would be perfect companion for a single adult or older couple. RUFFLES was found wandering the streets in north west Houston, TX. He was covered in fleas, ticks, brambles and burrs. He was scared, hungry and thirsty. With the help of some concerned rescuers, RUFFLES was leashed. Once he ate, drank and received treats, he was friendly. He is still frightened of people (he will bark, growl and fear-bite if not ... (Read More)given time and space), but gets along with most other dogs. If you give him a little time, he will come to you and if you give him a treat, he will love you forever! RUFFLES is HW+ and has begun treatment. He will require heartworm preventive every month for the remainder of his life. RUFFLES was microchipped and registered by his previous owners. Transferring his microchip will be done at the time he is adopted. Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online at www.aarfhouston.org/forms. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-22-00336Mickey (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Hi, my name is Mickey! I am a happy, playful, funny puppy who can't wait to find my forever home! Oh, and I'm also deaf! But don't worry, that doesn't slow me down one bit! I had a home once and a family I loved very much! They adopted me when I was just a little baby. But they soon figured out that I couldn't hear and they took me to the city pound to be euthanized. I was so scared and confused. Why did they stop loving me just cuz my ears don't work? But Red Collar Rescue knew I was an amazing dog - deaf or not! Off I went to the vet for all my shots, neutering and a microchip. I am a lovebug - never met a lap I didn't like but mostly I ... (Read More)like to play, run, and play some more! I am great with dogs my own size and I'm super smart. I even know some hand signals. I am currently living with a foster, and working with a trainer to learn even more! Email info@redcollar.org to adopt me! Age: 3 yrs Weight: 40 lbs Dogs? ok Cats? no Kids? ok Needs Foster? no UPDATE from Mickey's foster family: Mickey loves to play. He does very well in the car. He would do well with a canine playmate or two. Our neighbors, have a small child. Mickey did well when we introduced them. Mickey sometime's barks when he first meets people. That's just him saying hello. Mickey cannot hear so he doesn't realize how scary he can sound. Once he meets you, he's all about hugs and kisses. He is very motivated by pleasing us. He loves and needs to be told he's a good boy. Mickey is starting his AKC Canine Good Citizen class and will be done in a few weeks. He's goofy and will accept that he is not the alpha in a pack. He will try to be second though. He loves being close to his people. He sleeps with us and snuggles with us at night. He likes chew toys and socks, especially Himalayan dog chews. Mickey will thrive in a home that can give him lots of attention, TLC and will be patient while they adjust to each other. In many ways, he is still a puppy. He is unique and will be worth the love and care because Mickey possesses an infinite capacity to love. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-15-00693Truffles (female)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Posted 9/15/15, and pictures taken 9/4/15. While working on a current rescue project, Truffles and her sister Capri were found at a dumpster on 9/3/15 in route to our rescue location. Both came running up, are somewhat good on a leash, but need more practice, are very sweet, and love to be pet. We don't know if they are house trained yet, but they are social with people, so they did have an owner. We were thinking possible Beagle mix for the breed at first until the Cocker Spaniel mix was suggested. Both girls have stub tails. She was estimated to have been born around April 2015, and weighed 28.2 on 9/11/15. $90 adoption fee will pay ... (Read More)for her spay and vaccinations. (Less)

Animal ID: 2015-0807 BanditBandit (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is 'Bandit.' Don't you just love how cute I am? I'm mostly Brittany with a little sprinkling of Cocker Spaniel (but not much). Cockers are fine, but we Brittanys are AWESOME. I am so happy to be a new member of BRIT's Brittanys and on the way to finding my forever home. I've overheard them talking about me and saying that I AM a very active boy - ready to get going '| and something about needing training. So, we all know that's not an issue. One teeny weeny thing I do need is probably an electric fence and lots of training about that. You see I've figured out to scale my prior 6-7 foot fence (piece of cake) and because I can, I ... (Read More)do - I don't go far, it's all for the fun of the challenge. I get along with other dogs, kiddos and love people - I'm sounding pretty perfect don't ya think? Oh yeah, and I'm housebroken too! Bandit has been neutered, is up to date on his shots, heartworm negative and on preventative and ready for his forever home. (Less)
